Under Construction
This site isn't finished. You've caught it mid-build, the way you'd catch a host still in the kitchen.
My name is Mathias, I'm a designer and maker from Potsdam, Germany. I founded Geist Taschenmanufaktur in early 2026.
This is Geist Journal, a record of the work — the decisions, the failures, and deeper stories around the question: why do some things stay with us while others fade and get replaced?
I make bags from fabric. Wool, flax, hemp, cotton — whatever feels substantial and high-quality in the hand. Fluffy-soft or silky and I'm out. I use natural materials because they feel alive. Synthetic ones don't.

My workshop is a converted guest room. Small, tidy, every tool in its place, the fabrics leaning against the wall. It smells of wood from the loft I built so guests still have somewhere to sleep. While I work, I listen to the same radio plays from my childhood — the same episodes, again and again.
Geist is time spend making.
